Robert Bingham
As a qualified secondary teacher with a masters degree in mathematics Robert spent many years teaching in NSW and Queensland schools. He progressed into school and TAFE administration with a focus on quality systems in education and vocational education and training (VET) including auditing school RTOs. In more recent years Robert and his wife focused on supporting school students with education gaps through a number tutoring and enrichment programs. It was here that he listened to his students tell of the disadvantages many students, especially girls, have experienced within school systems and the bullying they have endured by their peers, and in some cases, their teachers.
As a recent retiree, Robert was keen to become an active volunteer in the Redlands community and as a father and grandfather to three daughters and five granddaughters he is very aware of the social challenges facing women and girls in Australia today. Hence, when introduced to Maybanke by a long time friend, Robert jumped at the opportunity to join the Maybanke Management Committee and become actively involved in supporting this amazing and worthwhile Redlands based association in its work of providing accommodation and crisis support for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.
